Danve, who was appointed as the new Maharashtra BJP Chief in January by party President Amit Shah, had submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister yesterday over the principle of "one-man, one-post". Modi accepted the resignation and sent it to the President.

Danve had taken over as the state BJP President after Devendra Fadnavis, under whose leadership the party came to

power in the 15 October Assembly polls, became Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

A four-time member of Lok Sabha from Jalna in the Marathwada region, Danve has risen through the ranks after

entering politics at the panchayat level.

He has said he will concentrate on party affairs in the state.
