The Senate isn’t planning to schedule a vote to confirm Loretta Lynch as attorney general this week and Hill sources tell our colleague Sari Horwitz that Senate Republican leaders aren’t talking to Democrats about when they will.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., who announced he was stepping down in September 2014, already had his farewell party Friday. But Holder, who Republicans are eager to see go, said he would stay on until his replacement was confirmed.
While many Republicans will oppose Lynch’s nomination because she has said she would uphold the president’s executive action on immigration, there are expected to be enough GOP votes for her to win confirmation.
When that vote will come, however, remains unclear.
